World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For instance, a perfectly roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't change much after an upgrade and aren't worth the cost.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. This bonus can sometimes exceed the damage a weapon upgrade can do on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For instance the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. Upgrades can make items unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Items of armor can also be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. This can boost the base defense of a helm or chest as well as belts and gloves. These can boost their strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain after upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button in the item menu using the arrows that are circling. This will reroll an item and alter its stats but not reset the weapon's level or bind it to account status.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make a a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer massive improvements in the resistance to poison, curses fire, magic, and other. This can make it easier to navigate difficult areas. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the more health you'll receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
To improve your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are redirected here in all each of which requires you to complete a special side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and mastered the fountain that corresponds you'll be able to speak to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each level will differ. It is possible to use anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for instance can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in frigid conditions with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you're able to withstand a rout with your comrades.
Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll want to focus on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also get some perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have a few upgrades to the chest armor and helmets to allow you to sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, provide an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to enhance their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in an Alchemist's chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion used and the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI in which you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll yield when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP total.
Once a poton is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade unless you use it again or break the bottle within which it is stored. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For example, splash potions now have the duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display for the item). The table of potion now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can now be used in both Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be combined in cauldrons. The same is true for using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will deplete the potion and refill the bottle.
There are also lingering potions that are brewed using dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone. The potion table has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It may be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but is not particularly significant such as a thimble. In certain cultures, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons and armor, as well as potions. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets are able to be traded out at any time without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with tokens, gold or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a new trinket. It can be done by the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl as the older one, and have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Trinkets can be upgraded once the old ones are not needed which allows a player to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing in the near future (for example, a ring or cloak). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should also consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player then they should consider upgrading their helm, chest and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they're no longer needed, and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket in the event that it is not saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
